American jazz pianist Montgomery Bernard "Monty" Alexander OJ CD was born in Jamaica on June 6, 1944. His style is bright and swinging, with a strong bebop jazz and blues-based melody vocabulary, and it has a Caribbean influence. Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Erroll Garner, Oscar Peterson, Ahmad Jamal, Les McCann, and Frank Sinatra were among the artists who impacted him. Alexander plays the melodica and sings as well.
