Scottish musician, producer, and DJ Howard Simon Bernstein, also known as Howie B, was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Starting as a DJ, he found his first touch with the music industry as a teaboy at Lillie Yard Studos, which was owned by the legendary Hanz Zimmer. Working his way up from there, he learnt the tricks of the trade as he moved to become a tape operator all the way to the engineer position.
Some of Howie's accomplishments include producing Tricky's "Ponderosa," playing "noises" on Marlene Kuntz's Ricoveri Virtuali E Sexy Solitudini, producing two albums for the Italian funk rock group Casino Royale (Reale and a collaborative album Not in the Face), co-writing and producing Take Your Partner by the Hand for his own album Turn the Dark Off with Robbie Robertson, producing Drum & Bass Strip to the Bone with Sly and Robbie, producing a solo project for U2's The Edge, and producing for Hal Willner are some other noteworthy credits.
