For the second time, Dubai Audio brought together the worlds of sound and taste in an exclusive evening at the Jass Lounge, DIFC. The synergy between Linn and The Macallan was celebrated by a new audience, who experienced a thoughtfully curated pairing of world-class music and exquisite whisky. A true celebration of craftsmanship, the evening highlighted both brands’ commitment to excellence and heritage, as well as Dubai Audio’s legacy of bringing heart and soul to sound for 30 years.
Honoring Tradition with Modern Elegance
This year marks 30 years of Dubai Audio’s dedication to high-fidelity audio, a family-run business built on passion. Hosting the event felt like a natural way to honor not just the legacy of Linn, celebrating 50 years, and The Macallan, with over 200 years of whisky mastery, but also our own story. Ali, head of sales and operations at Dubai Audio, captured this sentiment best:
“It’s not every day you get to toast to this kind of history and craftsmanship.”
And toast they did—guests enjoyed a night where music and whisky were harmoniously paired, creating an unforgettable sensory experience.
The Art of Pairing: Where Music Meets Whisky
At the heart of the evening were Linn’s flagship 360 loudspeakers, complemented by a carefully curated selection of tracks designed to reflect and enhance the tasting notes of The Macallan’s Double Cask Range. Each whisky from the collection was thoughtfully paired with music that highlighted the richness and complexity of the dram. From Diana Krall's sultry Temptation to Freya Ridings' emotional Lost Without You, the interplay between sound and taste was extraordinary.
For the Double Cask 12 Years Old, the rich flavours of fudge, citrus, and soft spice were perfectly mirrored by Diana Krall's seductive and smooth rendition of Temptation. The audience was transported to a nostalgic space, as Euan Kennedy of The Macallan’s Whisky Mastery Team described the whisky as reminding him of a family kitchen and the comfort of waiting for a cake to emerge from the oven.
The Double Cask 15 Years Old, with its key notes of butterscotch, apple, and sweet spice, was beautifully accompanied by the soulful intensity of Malia’s Fever. Much like the song, the whisky unfolded layers of cinnamon and creamy vanilla, leaving guests with lingering warmth, reminiscent of Steven Bremner's memories of butterscotch pudding from his childhood.
Taking things deeper, Dominique Fils-Aimé’s Birds paired effortlessly with the Double Cask 18 Years Old. The warm oak, citrus, and sultana notes of the whisky resonated with the track’s rich soulfulness. As Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker, reminisced about weekends in the Scottish Highlands, the pairing took the room on a journey of layered complexity, leaving a lasting impression that was both emotive and elegant.
An Evening to Remember
As the night progressed, guests sipped and savored each whisky, guided by the expert hands of Chloe from The Macallan and Michael O’Rourke from Linn. Each sensory moment was carefully crafted to immerse attendees in the artistry behind both brands, offering insights into the meticulous processes that make Linn’s audio systems and The Macallan’s whisky unrivaled.
Closing the event was Freya Ridings’ Lost Without You, a hauntingly beautiful piece that perfectly echoed the lingering warmth of the final dram. The combination of rich flavours and ethereal vocals left guests reflecting on a night where tradition met innovation, and where the finest sound and whisky came together in effortless harmony.
