SVS Ultra Evolution Titan and Center Channel Speaker: Home Theater Shack Review

Jul 12, 2024 |

After a 12-year wait, SVS unveiled its new Ultra Evolution speaker line at CES, marking a major upgrade from the previous Ultra models. The lineup includes three tower speakers (Evolution Pinnacle, Evolution Titan, and Evolution Tower), an Ultra Evolution Center channel, Ultra Evolution Bookshelf speaker, Ultra Evolution Nano, and Ultra Elevation speaker. These completely redesigned speakers have sparked excitement among audio enthusiasts, eager to see if the new models live up to their predecessors.

SVS Ultra Evolution Titan Speakers

The Ultra Evolution Titan, a three-way tower speaker, features a new curved baffle design with a WMTMW layout (Woofer-Midrange-Tweeter-Midrange-Woofer). This layout narrows the sound output on the vertical axis, aligning the sound from all drivers on a single plane, ensuring precise audio delivery. The design, with midrange drivers and woofers positioned around the tweeter, creates an idealized "point source" for optimal sound dispersion.

SVS Ultra Evolution Center Speakers

In movie demos like Mad Max: Fury Road, the Ultra Evolution Titan and Center speakers stood out with their expansive soundstage and dynamic performance. The speakers delivered clear and precise highs, even during loud scenes with engines roaring and explosions. They maintained clarity at high volumes, up to 110dB, without distortion. Versatile and compatible with most amplifiers, the Ultra Evolution speakers excel in both music and movies.
