The Soundsmith Hyperion MKII ES is a flagship, low-output, moving-iron (fixed coil) phono cartridge designed for audiophiles who demand exceptional detail, neutrality, and musicality. Handmade in the USA by Peter Ledermann, it uses high-precision materials (including a “cactus spine” cantilever) and advanced vibration-management (DEMS – Dynamic Energy Management System) to reduce unwanted resonances and keep stylus-groove contact maximized. The ES housing also adds built-in azimuth adjustment and better handling of electrical/hum issues.

-Low output (≈ 0.4 mV) for use with high-quality moving-coil compatible phono preamps.
-Fixed coil / moving iron design: gives the “best of both worlds” between MC and MM in terms of dynamic response and lower noise.
-Contact-Line stylus (nude, 0.10 mm square) or optimized contour stylus options for excellent groove engagement.
-Cactus spine cantilever: unusually rigid, tapered, fiber-stacked design with damping to reduce resonance.
-DEMS (Dynamic Energy Management System): improved vibration control internally to reduce reflected vibrations and preserve sonic detail.
-Azimuth adjustment built into the cartridge shell (useful if your tonearm does not provide azimuth control)
-Electrical isolation options to reduce hum or interference in sensitive setups.
