Sharing “trickle-down” technology from our flagship S-Series, the DPC-Array here based on three 26mm domes, guarantees excellent directivity control and timbre matching with all R-Series speakers.

The Silk diaphragms developed ground up, chosen specifically their smooth, effortless representation of midrange and treble. The 165mm woofer is made from our proprietary HPF pulp, two years in development, bringing new technology to one of the oldest materials used in loudspeaker design. Optimized for smooth power response (2pi or 4pi) the R4s is designed to work well as part of a larger R-series system, versatile enough to be used as any channel.

As with all Perlisten loudspeakers, the R4s is centred around the DPC array, comprising of three 26mm soft domes in a vertical array. The centre dome is the HF unit, covering frequencies above 4.4kHz. The output from this unit is controlled on the horizontal plane to reduce dispersion to focus on the listening position, reducing HF reflection from side walls. Vertically, its output is highly controlled, vastly reducing floor and ceiling reflections.

The flanking 26mm midrange domes cover between 1.25kHz and 4.4kHz, producing a more responsive midrange that is far less coloured by what would conventionally be a larger driver.

As the R4s is primarily designed as a wall-mounted effects speaker, the DPC array sits below a 6.5" bass driver covering from 1.25kHz downwards, acting in a sealed cabinet making them very room friendly. They're flexible enough to also be used as all five loudspeakers in a wall-mounted 5.1 surround system, for example, for those wanting a non in-wall, but discrete high performance system.

The R4s will cover 300Hz-20kHz within only a very narrow +/-1.5dB deviation, with typical against-wall placement providing a bass response down to 48Hz at -10dB, and produce a peak output of 109.5dB.

All of this tech helps the R4s achieve a THX Ultra rating, capable of effortlessly filling large rooms with cinema levels of sound quality.
