Master Line Source MK II Loudspeakers – Limited Edition (No.007)

The absolute flagship of the PIEGA loudspeakers, the Master Line Source MK II Loudspeakers were produced over several years of development. It operates on the line source principle, which is considered by audio experts as the ideal transducer. All frequencies are radiated as coherent cylindrical sound waves. Thanks to the enormous membrane area of the line source loudspeaker, its sound-producing area is considerably greater than with conventional loudspeakers and exhibits only extremely low distortion.

When the Swiss audio specialist PIEGA revealed the dream loudspeaker Master Line Source in the autumn of 2013, industry experts experienced a ‘wow’ moment: What the four human-sized acoustic transducers offer in terms of tonal finesse induced editors of the international trade press to spout effusive superlatives that are otherwise only rarely encountered.

The German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, for instance, wrote: “This equipment is among the best that loudspeaker engineering has to offer”, while the Swiss AV-Guide wondered: “Have I, in my entire career as an audio journalist, ever heard anything better?” And the online magazine hifisenses.com from Singapore asserted: “The Piega Master Line Source is one speaker that I recommend fellow audiophiles to have a listen to”.

But the all-important originator of the super loudspeaker, PIEGA’s Head Developer, Kurt Scheuch, was not slow in secluding himself in his workshop again to tinker with a smaller version with similar acoustics that could also be integrated into standard living rooms – and thus Master Line Source 2 was born, the result of a close cooperative alliance with the designer Stephan Hürlemann.

HIGHEST PRECISION
The entire baffle of the Master Line Source MKII Loudspeakers midrange panel is cut from one solid aluminum block offering outstanding stability and damping. The aluminum block consists of a special alloy offering maximum rigidity and internal damping and is also annealed in an hour-long process to remove stresses. The entire cutting process for the baffles alone requires several hours as only this ensures the required precision.

METICULOUS WORKMANSHIP
Master Line Source MK II Loudspeakers Limited Edition can only be produced from the meticulous workmanship of an experienced member of the PIEGA crew. A long wait time – untypical of PIEGA – for the delivery of these giants of sound is therefore not uncommon. The Master Line Source is produced at the company headquarters without haste and with a great deal of precision and value for the product.
